Gold remains the best investment in 2012
Sofia. According to experts, gold will remain the most attractive asset in 2012. For the seventh consecutive year gold is among the most profitable investment choices. According to investment bankers gold prices will grow by another 18% to 33%. Stocks on BSE and on international markets marked another bad year. Bulgarian indexes SOFIX and BG40 lost 11.6% and 1.8%, respectively. BGN-denominated deposits reported positive yield. After 4% inflation correction one-year deposits offer 3.5%, six-month yield 2.7%. Three-month deposits offer annual profitability of 2.4%. According to BNB statistics, the average interest rate on one-year deposit was 6.7%. international currencies failed to protect Bulgarian investors from the growing inflation in 2011.
In 2011 the real estate sector was among the worst performers. Prices of residential construction fell by 8 - 9% on average. Rents dropped by 10 – 11%. Klasa daily informed.
