Bulgaria and RES
According to the EurObserv’ER website Bulgaria is ranked 12th in the EU, regarding the share of Renewable Energy Sources /RES/ in the overall amount of energy, consumed in 2010. This country has pushed France one position down on 2009, when it had 11.7 percent and Bulgaria – 11.6 percent. However, last year this share reached 12.9 percent, while Sofia aims at a goal of 16 percent till 2020. Bulgaria is one of the best in the EU with its share of green energy, coming up to almost 13 percent, compared to the average 12.4 for the community. Of course we cannot reach the top – Sweden and Latvia can be spotted there. The first country is doubtlessly the green leader with a share of 46.9 percent in 2010. At the same time the share or RES in Latvia has exceeded 1/3 of the overall energy consumption. http://bnr.bg/sites/en/Lifestyle/BGEU/Pages/0512BulgariaandRES.aspx
